IDT: Boss Revolution Mobile Calling & Money Transfer Apps
My Role
Served as the UX manager overseeing all digital properties under the IDT umbrella. Acted as hands on UX design lead working closely with the UI designer to craft new user flows and payment experiences based on findings from our user testing and pilot launches. Worked closely with the CTO, CEO and CMO ensuring success of the project and its goals.

Calling App Project Background
Reach 1,000,000 monthly callers
Launch a 4.0 version of IDT’s widely popular calling app. Boss Revolution allows you to Call anywhere in the world with great rates or for free from any country. Top Up phones for your friends and family in a few clicks. Text and share your photos and videos for free. Or even Read news, listen to radio from any country and see what’s trending. IDT had a very ambitious goal of reaching 1,000,000 montly callers using the app. The apps brand and experience were way out of date and out of touch with their target audience group who had been attracted away by groundbreaking free services like What’s App and an improving WiFi in developing countries. Boss Revolution needed it’s own Revolution.

App Audit
When I started work at IDT, I was asked to audit the current build of the soon-to-release “Boss Revolution” Calling app version 4.0.
Who are we designing for?
I analyzed some previous work done by consultants to better understand who we were building this app for. This resulted in the below user personas.
Iterations
After the audit and personas were established we got down to designing and redesigning the new features to fit more with modern apps and to be a lot more useable.
Usability Testing and Pilot launches
As we confirmed some of the design choices we began to launch a test version of the app to select nations and our internal employee team. We used analytics tools like “Apsee” to help the team visualize what was happening as users interacted with out app.
Realigning some of the key Flows
Taking what we learned from the usability testing and analytics reviewing. We reworked some of the key flows that would make this app successful.
Results
Below are some of the final screens and here are some of the results…

MOney Transer App Project Background
Make sending money internationally easier
Update the app to compete with modern apps like Cash App, Venmo, and more. The unique advantage of the Boss Rev Money app is that it is capable of sending money anywhere in the world, even if the recipient isn’t a mobile user. Truly a magnificent product in need of a refresh.
